APEC Leaders has stressed the importance of Human Resources Development to meet the challenges of globalization and new economy. In this respect, the APEC Future Education Consortium was launched with the support of 15 APEC economies based on the achievements of the Consortium for APEC Cyber Education Cooperation (ACEC), narrowing the digital divide and establishing human network. The Consortium aims at suggesting and crystallizing visions of future education through international cooperative network. Under the umbrella of the consortium, we have laid the foundation and strengthened the tie-up between member economies to search for ideal model of future education for evenly developed and harmonized community as implementing the APEC ICT Model School Network, the APEC Future Education Forum and the APEC Future Education Report.
In particular, we convened the 1st APEC Future Education Forum to search for ideal model of future education with the presence of around 500 member economies¡¯ scholars, experts, educators, and teachers and representatives of APEC ICT Model Schools joined in the forum to deliberate ideal school model for future education with the participants. Through these activities, we are materializing ideal model of future education and enhancing international cooperation in education in the APEC region. APEC member economies welcome and appreciate the achievements at the APEC SOM and APEC Ministerial Meeting in 2005.
For sharing these achievements, we, the consortium, are to issue the APEC Future Education Report as the special issue of APCJ which will be a crucial channel in encouraging human resources development for the future society. This, the APEC Future Education Report, will contain our consortium's dynamic activities and projects and will be published annually to report our achievements in the APEC economic leaders' meeting. I appreciate that member economies, your all-out support and whole concern have led us to publish this issue. Wide support retained, this journal will continue to make a clear way towards constructive visions of future education so that the next generation will be grown up as confident leaders contributing to the shred prosperity for whole APEC.
